About Me

Hello everyone!

My name is Alyssa Lewandowski I am currently 20 years old and I live in Milford, CT with my parents, 2 dogs, and my triplet sisters. I recently graduated from University of Bridgeport with my Associates degree and will continue to complete my bachelor’s degree currently. My journey to becoming a dental hygienist was not easy but I can say it was all definitely worth it. The thing I enjoy the most about dental hygiene is how hygienists can prevent disease and care for another person’s well-being. I love that we are the only preventative professionals in the health care field. Also, I find so much joy when I can make people happy about their smile. The best thing is when they are so grateful for what I have done for them it makes it so much better. I have no prior dental hygiene work experience but, I am hopeful to start working soon. I am currently looking for part time or temping jobs since I am in school and cannot fit a full-time job into my schedule.

For my internship I will be student teaching at the Fones School of Dental Hygiene in the Dental Materials course. It will consist of a lecture and three different lab times. According to the ADHA career paths the role of my internship would be an Educator. I will be working alongside a professor/clinical instructor and a dentist during my internship. Throughout my dental hygiene journey at school I have also experienced some other roles. One for sure would be a clinician right in the clinic at the Fones School of Dental Hygiene treating a variety of different patients. I have also been in the role of Public Health during some rotations at the Fones School of Dental Hygiene. For example, a head-start program in Bridgeport, CT, and a few local clinics such as South West and Norwalk Hospital. Lastly another role that I will soon be in is a researcher. I am taking the Dental Hygiene Research course to complete my bachelor’s degree but, I have done a research in the past.
